Application process will resume as last year, same times 1st & 3rd Thursday of the following months:
Thursday–January 7th and 21st, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Thursday–February 4th and 18th, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Thursday–March 4th and 18th, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Thursday–April 1st and 15th, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
The Chester Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee (CJATC) for the Electrical Indusrty offers a five (5) year apprenticeship to become a Journeyman Electrician. This committee is partnered through the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) and The National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA). The apprenticeship program consists of 8,000 hours of on the job training, as well as 900 hours of classroom and lab training.
Due to COVID-19, apprenticeship applications will be conducted in a different manner in 2021. To
eliminate contact with others, we will not be holding applications at our hall. Below are the changes we
have made to our process. Please read them carefully and contact the hall with any additional questionsDownload Application
Applications will be available to print online any time but must be dropped off in the outside mailbox at the main doors of the hall between 11am and 4pm on the 8 scheduled dates only. Any applications dropped off outside of those dates and times will NOT be accepted. NO EXCEPTIONS!
A $40.00 money order must be provided with the application when it is dropped off. We cannot accept cash, checks, or credit cards.
You will have 30 days from your application date to provide the following: • A copy of your birth certificate • A copy of your driver's license • An official high school transcript *Copies can be mailed, put in our outside mailbox, or emailed to [email protected] *Transcripts can be mailed or faxed directly from your high school. If you are bringing it yourself, it must be in a sealed envelope to be considered official
You are welcome to provide any college/trade school transcripts or certificates, but they are not required.
Following the submission of your application, you will be contacted with a date and time at which you are to take an entry level math test.
So long as all the above requirements have been fulfilled, the CJATC will schedule you for an oral interview.

Notice of Apprenticeship Opportunity
Be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of application -must provide evidence of minimum age as required by the JATC .(e.g. copy of Birth Certificate)
Be at least a high school graduate, or have a GED, or, in lieu of a high school diploma or GED, have a two-year Associate Degree or higher.
Show evidence of successful completion of: one full year of high school algebra with a passing grade, or one post high school algebra course with a passing grade. (School transcript)
Provide an official transcript for high school and post high school education and training. All GED records must be submitted.
Possess a VALID PA Drivers License.
Individuals who can verify (proper documentation e.g. tax, payroll records, notarized letters required within 30 days of application) that they have worked a minimum of four thousand (4000) hours specifically in the electrical construction trade.do not need to meet the requirements of items (B) and (C).
Individuals who have worked a minimum of forty-five hundred (4500) hours as Residential Wireman under an IBEW/NECA local collective bargaining agreement (proper documentation required), do not need to meet the requirements of items (B) and (C).
Individuals who have completed at least 3 years of related instruction and 4,500 hours of OJT as indentured apprentices in a properly registered electrical construction apprenticeship program not sponsored by IBEW/NECA (proper documentation required), do not need to meet the requirements of items (B) and (C).
Prior to being indentured, applicants selected from the pool of interviewed applicants will be required to provide results of a physical examination and a drug test as decided by the JATC.
The recruitment, selection, employment and training of apprentices during their apprenticeship, shall be without discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex or age – except the applicant must be at least 18 years of age to apply. The sponsor will take affirmative action to provide equal opportunity in apprenticeship and will operate the apprenticeship program as required under applicable law and lawful regulations issued there-under.
Applicants who meet all basic requirements will be interviewed by the JATC. Apprentices will be selected in order of their final ranking.
